The children experience nature in its year's cycle. They wait for the green leaves to appear, enjoy the beautiful flowers, the bright colors and the soft snowflakes. What the children otherwise get to see only on the book pictures, they are experiencing in the forest with all their senses, the cycle of nature is lived through in its fullness. Children discover the relationships between climate, seasons, plant growth and animal life. In the forest playgroup we discuss these relationships based on narratives and related books. We arouse the curiosity and interest of the children to the forest habitat, encourage them to ask questions and to share impressions. For this purpose comes Bibi, the beloved and familiar hand puppet squirell. In the woods children enjoy playing, running, jumping, climbing, etc. The children are encouraged to develop the psychomotor area without guidance, just out of sheer joy of movement. All the diffenet movements promotes strength, balance, posture and motor skills. In the playgroup we support children physical development by movement games, search games and catching games.
The regular walks in the woods strengthen the immune system and the muscular system. The children become physically more adaptable to heat, cold, wind and rain.
The forest is a real paradise of sences, which is especially important for younger children. They simply must see with your own eyes, smell with thier own nose, taste with their own tongue, and hear with their own ears - so they can integrate the impressions and really explore the nature. The childhood sensual expieiences and impresssions have their input on one's whole life. In nature, the sense perception is trained by inexhaustible impressions. For the development of sence preception we also use many games with sensual components, when we get our ears, nose, hands, feet , and eyes to absorb and integrate information. For language and musical expirience we use the forest songs and melodies. We carefully choose the songs to support the native language of the children and enrich the atmosphere in the group.
In the forest playgroup children use natural materials for games and crafts. the live contact with the natural material offers many possibilities for design (on the contrary, prefabricated toys alreadz have a fixed form and function, such as a car or a doll). Dealing with natural materials calls for increased verbalization, because the children need to agree on the function and on the content.
Free play is also among the important areas of educational work in the forest playgroup. The children learn how communicate in a group of children of the same age, develop social competences that help with the transition to the kindergarden.
The forest playgroup allows children meet other children with different backgrounds, to share and learn from each other. So that the children are feeling comfortable, we sing all the group songs in the native languages of the children.
